Fortinet is pleased to announce that nonprofit VetCTAP has joined the Fortinet Network Security Academy (FNSA) to develop its’ members’ – comprised of military, veterans, and spouses – cybersecurity skills and help them transition their career to the civilian workforce. By joining FNSA, VetCTAP will give their members access to training and curriculum from the Fortinet Network Security Expert program, which includes certifications designed for skill and experience development. As a result, active duty military, veterans, and their spouses can more effectively compete for jobs in today’s competitive marketplace.
“Fortinet is proud to partner with VetCTAP to provide comprehensive skills training, certifications and career preparation to military personnel as they transition to civilian careers,” highlighted Jay Garcia, Veterans Program Team Lead at Fortinet. “I experienced firsthand the benefits of VetCTAP’s program when I was looking to transition to the workforce and I eventually ended up at Fortinet where I’m helping others like myself do the same.”
Helping Transition Military Personnel to a Civilian Career
The Veteran Career Transition Assistance Program (VetCTAP) – a training program developed and delivered by JBS Transition Experts, Inc. – provides job search skills training and coaching for transitioning active duty military, veterans, and their spouses. This innovative, eight-module workshop series includes: skills and interest assessments, resume development, networking with practice, mock interviews and feedback, one-on-one coaching, and more.
The goal of these workshops is to assist participants in successfully translating their military skills for application in the civilian job market. This training program includes 27 hours of hands-on, interactive training and coaching. And this is supplemented with ongoing, one-on-one virtual coaching after the formal workshops are completed until graduates obtain a new career. Now, these programs will be augmented with training and curriculum from the Fortinet Network Security Expert program.
“We are thrilled to join the Fortinet Network Security Academy,” shared Janis Whitaker, Executive Director at VetCTAP. “By having access to training that includes technical certifications, it will make it easier for our participants to apply their skills to a career in cybersecurity and help them standout.”
Fortinet’s Training Programs and VetCTAP – A Valuable Combination to Close the Skills Gap
The combined goal is to ensure that these individuals understand how the skills they developed during their military tenure relate to civilian needs. Together, Fortinet and VetCTAP will work to augment those skills with specific technical training and certifications. These efforts further Fortinet’s commitment to close the cybersecurity skills gap by giving people resources needed for a successful career in the cybersecurity industry.
